Sikh Gurdwara looking to relocate to Thorpe Close

A change-of-use planning application has been submitted to Cherwell District Council for a commercial unit on Thorpe Close in Banbury. The applicant wants to use it for a Gurdwara – a Sikh place of worship.
The existing Gurdwara is located on West Street in Grimsbury – an area the applicant highlights as characterized by narrow streets and limited on-street parking.
The proposed new location includes eight dedicated parking spaces. The surrounding businesses are usually closed on Sundays, providing further parking availability during peak usage times for the Gurdwara.
Its noted that a significant portion of the congregation reside within the local area, promoting walking and carpooling as preferred modes of transportation. The move would also alleviate parking constraints for West Street residents.

The public have until the end of the month to comment on the application.
