Successful football club lottery donates more money to hospital campaign group

Over £15,000 has been donated since the lottery was founded

Another £2,355 has been presented to the Keep The Horton General campaign by the Banbury United Community Lottery.   The latest donation takes the total donated since the lottery was founded to more than £15,000.

The community lottery was the brainchild of Mark Allitt, who was Banbury United’s Commercial Director at the time.   Some of Mr Allitt’s fellow directors were not convinced the scheme would be a success, but they were proven wrong.   The lottery has flourished, bringing in much needed funds to the club and the Keep The Horton General campaign.

For those playing the lottery over £50,000 has been paid out in prize money.

Mark Allitt is now the Chairman of the trustees of the Banbury United Community Club Lottery Fund.   He said: “I’m delighted that we’re able to hand over a further donation to Keep The Horton General campaign. The total amount raised of over fifteen thousand pounds is through the loyalty of the people who play our community lottery.”

Ronnie Johnson, Chairman of Banbury United FC, said, “I am continuously enthused by the fantastic success of the fundraising scheme, which would not be possible without the lottery volunteers’ team and the outlets that show continued commitment by hosting our weekly draws. In these somewhat difficult financial times, it’s great to know we have put a smile on the faces of so many people. We Are United!”

Those playing the Banbury United Community Club Lottery attempt to predict the three numbers that will be drawn every Friday at 3pm.   Entry is £1 per ticket.

From all the income expenses and a 10% donation to the Keep the Horton General campaign are taken out and then anyone predicting the three numbers correctly can win up to 50% of the remaining money.   The rest of the cash goes to the Football Club.
