The supermarket’s maintenance team are working hard to reopen as soon as possible

The petrol station at the Tesco Extra store off Ruscote Avenue in Banbury is currently closed following a collision between two vehicles on the forecourt this afternoon.   One of the vehicles crashed into the building where payments are made.

Emergency services were called to the scene around 2pm this afternoon, with Oxfordshire County Council’s Fire and Rescue Service sending fire engines from Banbury and Deddington stations and a rescue tender vehicle from Kidlington.

They isolated the electricity supply and petrol pumps and made the vehicles safe.   The vehicles were removed from the building onto the forecourt.

Thames Valley Police say there were no injuries and no arrests have been made, but an investigation is ongoing.

A Tesco Spokesperson told Banbury FM: “The petrol station at our Banbury Extra is currently closed. We are working hard with our maintenance team to reopen this as soon as possible. We’re sorry for the inconvenience caused.”

The main Tesco Extra supermarket remains open as normal.
