Performance information for services arriving at Banbury train station has gone live today

On the day train ticket prices have increased, new data reveals that one third of Cross Country trains arriving at Banbury station were more than 3 minutes late in January.

The operator, who’s services take local commuters to places like Oxford, Reading and Manchester, saw just 67.1 percent of its services arrive within 3 minutes of when they were due to arrive at Banbury station platform.

The performance information is being made available on a new website, which has been launched today.   Passengers can see the reliability of services, broken down by operator, at over 1,700 stations in England.

At major stations the information is displayed on digital screens.

The data for Cross Country also shows that 1.7 percent of their services were cancelled during the period from January 5 to February 1.

Chiltern’s performance – taking commuters on the route to London – was better, with only 13.1 percent of their trains more than three minutes late and 0.5 percent cancelled during the same period.

The government’s Transport Secretary, Heidi Alexander, said: “Today marks the beginning of a new era of rail accountability.

“These displays are a step towards rebuilding trust with passengers using our railways, as we continue to tackle the root causes of frustrating delays and cancellations.

“Through fundamental rail reform, we’re sweeping away decades of dysfunctionality – putting passengers first, driving growth through connectivity as part of this government’s Plan for Change.”
