Toys distributed at conclusion of most successful appeal ever
10/12/2024
Town Mayor Mark Cherry took a selection of toys to the hospital Children’s Ward
Generous Banbury people donated over 270 toys to the Town Mayor’s Toy Appeal this year – more than twice what was donated last year.
It makes the 2024 appeal the most successful yet.
The gifts, many of which were brand new, will now be distributed to help cheer children who otherwise wouldn’t have such a nice Christmas. Donations included jigsaws, toy trains, a box of dinosaurs, a monster truck arena, and toy construction vehicles, along with toys from popular franchises including Marvel Superheroes, Batman, Peppa Pig, Thomas the Tank Engine, and Disney Princess.
Town Mayor Mark Cherry visited the Children’s Ward at the Horton General Hospital with a donation of gifts. Other presents were gifted to Home-Start Banbury, Bicester, and Chipping Norton, ranging from items for toddlers to those for teenagers.
Councillor Cherry said: “The Horton Hospital is near and dear to the hearts of just about everyone in Banbury and one of its most beloved institutions.
“The donations from residents across the town reflects this widely held sentiment, and the joy and appreciation from patients and staff alike was truly heart-warming.”
