Tramway access partially reopens on Wednesday

Pedestrians and cyclists can access the train station, drivers can access the industrial estate
From tomorrow pedestrians and cyclists catching a train from Banbury will once again be able to gain access to the station from Tramway.
The route in has been closed since last October when work on the nearly £16m access project began.
Drivers heading to the Station Approach Industrial Estate and Banbury United’s Spencer Stadium from the southern side of town will also benefit from new road access, meaning they will no longer need to navigate the congestion at the Cherwell Street and Bridge Street junction to get to Station Approach.
The next stage of construction involves building an improved Station Approach Road and west car park. During this time vehicles won’t be able to access the front of the station, although disabled access will remain open.
Councillor Judy Roberts, Oxfordshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Place, Environment and Climate Action, said: “I’m very pleased that the footpath and extended Tramway Road will be available for use from Wednesday, I know this will make a big difference to many people’s commutes and other journeys.
“We continue to make good progress with these long-awaited station access improvements despite coming across some challenges on site. The teams had to deal with difficult conditions and adapt their plans.
“Please bear with us while we finish construction. Access to the train station and some drop-off locations will change, but parking will still be widely available.”
Work is expected to finish in December.
