Two people have been arrested after a young child was hurt when they were involved in a collision with an electric bike in a Banbury Park.
The youngster sustained serious injuries and required hospital treatment following the incident, which happened at the Ruscote Playground in Ruscote Recreational Park on Sunday evening at around 6.50pm.
The rider of the electric bike fled the scene.
South Central Ambulance Service attended and notified Thames Valley Police who subsequently arrested an 18-year-old man and a 34-year-old man, who are both from Banbury. They were arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving with no insurance and failing to stop. Both remain in police custody.
Investigating officer. Sergeant Joe Clamp of the Roads Policing Unit said: “Any collision involving a young person is particularly harrowing, but I would like to thank those that came to the aid of victim at the time of the collision, including the South Central Ambulance Service.
“We are carrying out a thorough investigation into the circumstances of this collision, with two men being arrested.
“I would particularly like to hear from anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident as they may have vital information to assist in this investigation.
“If you saw the electric bike prior or after to the collision, have dash-cam or CCTV footage, please come forward.”
