Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage following a collision on the M40 near Banbury early on Saturday morning (May 17), which resulted in two people being hospitalised with serious injuries.

A black Ford C-Max MPV collided with the nearside crash barrier on the northbound M40, between junctions 10 and 11, at around 5.50am.   The vehicle then left the carriageway and rolled down the embankment.

The driver and passenger – both men in their late twenties – were taken to hospital, where they remain in a serious condition.

PC Steve Lane, of the Roads Policing Unit, is leading the investigation.   He said: “This was a single vehicle collision, and I am appealing to anybody who witnessed this to please get in touch with us.

“I’d be particularly keen to hear from anybody who witnessed the collision itself, or the moments leading up to it.”

Witnesses can contact Thames Valley Police via their website or by calling 101, quoting reference number 43250241916.   Police are also asking drivers who may have been in the area at the time to check dashcam footage that could help with the investigation.
