Katharine House cares for approximately 1,300 people every year

Just under £1m has been invested in upgrades and improvements at the Katharine House Hospice in Adderbury.

Oxford University Hospital’s Trust (OUH) spent £982,000 at the Adderbury based hospice, with infrastructure updates and the rejuvenation of clinical areas amongst the work undertaken.

The project was completed over three phases, with careful planning to minimise disruption.

Katharine House provides specialist care for adults with a life-limiting illness.   The improvements will benefit patients, their families and staff.

Mark Holloway, Chief Estates and Facilities Officer at OUH, said: “The teams care for approximately 1,300 people every year, leading with excellence and compassion. This improved environment will certainly make their day-to-day work easier and more efficient, as well as providing the best possible environment for our patients and their loved ones.”

Emma Radley, Chief Executive Officer of Katharine House Hospice Charity, said: “We are absolutely delighted with the results of the refurbishment. The improvements have made such a difference to everyone.

“As with any refurbishment work, we knew there was going to be some level of disruption, but the contractors have worked swiftly and respectfully and made the process as painless as possible.

“Our staff here at the hospice have been amazing whilst the work went on around them, ensuring that our patients and visitors could be cared for with the same exceptional standard that people have come to expect from Katharine House.”

Katharine House Hospice and OUH joined forces in 2021 and have worked in partnership since.
