National Offer Day brings the news they wanted for over 94 percent of parents

Parents of children who will be starting primary education this September woke this morning to the news of which school their child has been allocated.

Today is National Offer Day for primary school places.

In Oxfordshire 94.04 percent of children were given a place at their parents first choice school.   In West Northamptonshire the figure was 94.6 percent.

For the remaining families places weren’t offered at their first preference school, often because demand at these places has exceeded the available spaces.

For these situations parents are asked to list alternative preferential schools.   When this is taken into account 99 percent of children were successfully placed in Oxfordshire and 99.1  percent in West Northamptonshire.

For those who were not successful in gaining a place at their preferred school, parents have the right to appeal through the independent admission appeals process.
