Police have issued a warning to parents in Brackley after they received reports of a group of youngsters playing a dangerous game of ‘chicken’ with passing traffic on Halse Road.

South Northants Neighbourhood Policing Team said several incidents had been reported in recent days involving children, aged between 10 and 16, stepping into the road in front of vehicles near Brackley Grange.   The youngsters were reportedly using skateboards and scooters.

Officers highlighted the increased danger in this particular location due to poor visibility caused by the low evening sun filtering through nearby trees, making it harder for drivers to see clearly.

A spokesperson for the team urged parents to speak with their children and discourage them from taking risks near the road. “This is hugely risky at any time, but especially so in this area given the visual challenges for drivers,” they said.

The police are encouraging local youngsters to use the town’s skatepark instead.
