Six customers are temporarily without water whilst repair work is undertaken

West Bar Street in Banbury is closed due to another burst water main.

On Tuesday evening a huge plume of water was seen shooting up from the road by the pedestrian crossing, close to Banbury Cross.

Thames Water stopped the flow at just after 10pm.

Last September another burst water main further up West Bar Street left a number of properties flooded and the road closed for a number of days.

Work to repair the latest problem is now underway with a handful of nearby properties temporarily without water whilst this is happening.

A Thames Water spokesperson told Banbury FM: “We apologise for the disruption caused by a burst water main in Banbury last night.

“We stopped the flow of water from the burst pipe just after 10pm.   Six customers are temporarily without water while we continue to carry out our repair work and a Customer Representative is in the area today to speak to anyone who has been affected.

“West Bar Street at the junction with the Banbury Cross roundabout will remain closed while our engineers work to repair the pipe as quickly as possible and we’re sorry for any disruption this may cause.”
