Woman raped in Banbury town centre

The attack happened in Newlands Place
A woman was raped in Banbury town centre during the early hours of Saturday morning (February 1).
The victim, who’s in her late teens, had been followed into an alleyway in Newlands Place. It was here that the attack happened, between 3.25am and 3.50am.
The victim sustained minor injuries and attended hospital but has since been discharged.
Shortly before the rape, the offender approached three women on Broad Street and attempted to hug them.
A 26-year-old man from Kettering has been arrested on suspicion of rape and remains in police custody.
Investigating officer Detective Inspector James Holden-White, of Banbury CID, said: “I understand that this may cause concern but I want to reassure the community that this was an isolated incident.
“An arrest has been made but I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the moments leading up to this incident or has any information that can assist our investigation.
“I am also appealing to the group of women who were approached by the offender on the same night as they may have vital information.
