North Oxfordshire is in focus as the festival begins

The annual Oxfordshire Artweeks festival begins its month run this weekend and our area is in focus from Saturday until May 12.

Across the county there will be five hundred open studios, pop-up exhibitions and other events, all of which are free to visit.

In Middleton Cheney the New Inn will host Art At The Barn, featuring 5 artists displaying their paintings, ceramics and paper artwork.

In Banbury The Mill Arts Centre and Church Lane Gallery will have works to view, whilst artist Helen McCarthy will be showing her drawings, mixed media creations and paintings in her garden studio in Kingsway.

A trail sheet has been provided in Adderbury so people can find their way to the three locations in the village displaying paintings, drawings, jewellery and stained glass.

This is the 42nd Oxfordshire Artweeks.

Esther Lafferty, Festival Director, said: “From the traditional to the contemporary and multidisciplinary, across the county there’s something to delight, intrigue and inspire everyone. Explore painting, sculpture, ceramics and printmaking; look out for fashion and furniture; discover glass art, mosaics and other marvels; and perhaps choose a treasure or two to take home with you.”
