Fault on high voltage network results in power loss just before 4pm

A large number of properties on the southern side of Banbury lost their power supply on Sunday afternoon due to a fault on the high voltage network.   Engineers from Western Power Distribution were seen working on the fault in the area behind the petrol service station on the Oxford Road in Bodicote.

Initially the power failed just before 4pm for properties on the southern side of town and parts of Bodicote and Adderbury.   Many properties were quickly brought back on line as the fault was isolated.

West Power Distribution’s staff sought to restore power for the remaining properties with engineers seen working on a pylon behind the Bodicote service station.   A number of additional properties had their power restored just after 4.40pm.

Western Power Distribution told Banbury FM: “The fault is on our high voltage network.   Engineers have been able to switch on the network and restore the majority of power supplies.

“At present we have 21 properties without power, with an estimated restoration time of 17:30.”
